Farm Fund

The goal of the Farm Fund is to support and grow the local food and farming economy and increase the amount of locally and sustainably produced products available for sale. Your choice to shop at the Co-op or donate directly to the Farm Fund has grown the Farm Fund’s programs since its inception ten years ago.

For 2010 the Farm Fund committee has identified two crucial needs: to stimulate the demand for local products so sustainable farming grows as a vital part of Whatcom County’s economy; and to increase the supply of local food by supporting new and existing farms to build their businesses and land base. To address these two areas the Farm Fund is continuing its current grant program for local food and farming projects that support the growth of sustainable agriculture in Whatcom County, educate consumers, and increase access to local food. In 2010 the Farm Fund also launched a new revolving loan fund for local farms committed to using sustainable practices.
