In early October, Co-op staff visited Tecumseh Poultry in Nebraska, more commonly known as Smart Chicken. All of us wanted to learn more about why their company is an industry leader that sets the highest standard for humane chicken processing in the United States.
In 2017, the Co-op stated its commitment to racial equity work and established a process to reflect on and question the culture and community practices we live with that may further racial and social inequity. This is the timeline of the Co-op’s racial equity work in 2017 and plans for 2018.
