Member Affairs Committee
The Member Affairs Committee, fondly known as “MAC,” is a standing committee that advises the Board on the relationship between the Co-op, its owners, and the community.
The MAC is a mix of Board directors and Co-op owners at large. MAC looks for ways to engage with owners about our food, our health, our co-op, and more. The committee monitors trends in owner input and recommends groups for the Co-op’s Community Shopping Days. The group also receives training in consensus and policy governance, and gets to practice their skills at meetings in a fun, supportive environment.
Any member-owner can bring a concern or idea to MAC for consideration, as well as join the committee. To do so, contact Board Administrator Jean Rogers at 360-734-8158, ext. 311.
MAC meets the last Wednesday of most months at 5:15 pm at the Co-op Connections building at 405 E. Holly St., Suite 103. The agenda is posted on the Board of Directors’ bulletin board at the front of each store.
You can read the most recent MAC meeting minutes here. Printed copies are also available on the bulletin boards at the front of each store.
Board Development Committee
The Board Development Committee (BDC) recruits Board candidates, oversees the Board election process and works to provide training for current directors. Other BDC duties include designing strategic planning retreats, and writing and monitoring Board policies.
The Finance Committee monitors the Co-op’s financial status on a regular basis, ensuring the Co-op’s healthy financial condition and economic viability. One member-at-large may serve on this committee.
The executive committee consists of a minimum of three Board directors, serves as the Board’s oversight body in matters relating to the general manager, and is empowered to act on behalf of the Board for time-sensitive matters.
For any questions about the Board of Directors or its committees, or to attend an upcoming meeting, contact Board Administrator Jean Rogers.
