In 2017, the Co-op stated its commitment to racial equity work and established a process to reflect on and question the culture and community practices we live with that may further racial and social inequity. This is the timeline of the Co-op’s racial equity work in 2017 and plans for 2018.
We have developed an “Anti-bias, Harassment, and Racial Profiling Policy” that includes methods for documenting interactions, identifying bias or harassment, and outlines corrective actions that will be taken in response to incidents should they occur.
We understand that we have a responsibility to continue to educate ourselves and there are many resources to draw from to learn about racial and social equity. See a few that we have been using and reflecting on.
