Community Food Co-op Membership Agreement

By purchasing a Class A Share and paying the membership fee, I agree to the following:  

Basic Membership Terms

  • I am 18 years of age or older.  
  • I support the Co-op’s purposes and will abide by its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws.  
  • I understand the cost of my membership share is refundable. An annual membership fee is due each year, which is not refundable.  
  • I may share my shopping privileges with members of my household.  
  • I will settle any disputes through mediation or binding arbitration. 
  • My membership can end if:  
    • I voluntarily resign.  
    • The Board terminates my membership for violating Co-op rules (after a fair hearing).  


Understanding My Investment

  • My membership share represents a capital contribution to the Co-op.  
  • It does not earn interest or dividends (except patronage dividends from my purchases).  
  • If I leave the Co-op, I will receive my equity back, typically within four to six weeks.  
  • Any patronage dividends I’ve earned will be handled according to the Bylaws. 


Additional Terms

  • This agreement is governed by Washington state law.  
  • Only I can make updates to my membership.   
  • The Co-op will send legally required written notices.   
  • The Co-op may update membership terms and benefits with proper notice.  
  • Upon termination, any unclaimed funds or patronage dividends may revert to the Co-op.  
  • I can review the full Bylaws at the Co-op’s business office or on the Co-op’s website.
