Member Dividends

We’re happy to announce that our Board of Directors has declared a patronage dividend for the 2024 fiscal year. If you qualify, your dividend total was mailed to you using the mailing address associated with your membership. If your member information is outdated, please update it here

How is the Dividend Decided?

Each spring, the Board reviews the Co-op’s financial results and member-owner profits to determine whether a dividend can be issued. We also decide how much to retain to keep the Co-op financially strong. Retained patronage allows us to invest in our mission, improve our stores, and support staff and community programs well into the future.

How to Use Your Dividend

Shop with it: Tell your cashier you’d like to apply it to your purchase.

Donate it: Support our Farm Fund, which helps protect farmland and local farmers in Whatcom and Skagit Counties. Just let your cashier know, or donate it by filling out the form here.

Your dividend must be redeemed by December 31, 2025. Redeeming it benefits both you and the Co-op by reducing our taxable income.

Thank you for being part of our Co-op — yesterday, today, and for the next 55 years. When you shop with us, you’re supporting local farmers, fishers, ranchers, and makers. You’re keeping your dollars rooted in our local economy, supporting union jobs with best-in-class pay and benefits, and helping build a more just and resilient food system.

Co-op Dividend FAQs

I’m a member and didn’t receive a dividend.

To receive a dividend, you must have spent at least $658 associated with your membership during the 2024 fiscal year.

How much is my dividend?

You can ask your cashier for your dividend balance the next time you shop. You also can request your dividend total by emailing [email protected] or stopping by the service desk.

How is my dividend amount determined?

The dividend is a percentage of the Co-op’s net profit from member purchases. The Board of Directors determines if a dividend will be issued for the prior fiscal year, and if so, the size of the dividend based on the Co-op’s financial results and operational expenses. A percentage is applied equally to total member sales to determine each member’s dividend.

I just joined. Will I receive a dividend?

The dividend is based on purchases made during the Co-op’s fiscal year, which was December 31, 2023 to December 28, 2024. If you joined after December 28, 2024, you would not be eligible for a dividend.

Do curbside orders count toward my dividend?

Yes, if you are a member and have a curbside account. To associate your membership with your curbside order, please sign in using your account information.

Do special orders count toward my dividend?

Yes. Any time you associate your membership with your purchase, it counts toward calculating your dividend.

How do returns affect my dividend?

Returns are deducted from your eligible dividend earnings balance.

What happens if I forgot to give my membership number on a previous purchase?

If you forget to identify as a member when making a purchase, you have 30 days to bring your receipt to the store service desk to have the purchase credited to your member account. Purchases made before you were a member, or more than 30 days old, cannot be applied to your member account.

Will I receive a dividend next year?

A dividend is a wonderful benefit to Co-op membership. The Co-op’s ability to pay a member dividend is directly related to the financial health of the Co-op, our profitability, and most importantly, the amount you shop. The more dollars you spend at the Co-op, the more that money is recirculated in our local economy and potentially paid back to you as a member.

Do I receive a dividend if I close my membership?

Only current members receive dividends. If you close your membership, you will not receive a future dividend based on purchases prior to closing your membership.

Can other members of my household redeem my dividend?

A spouse or domestic partner may redeem your dividend on your behalf.

Can a cashier tell me the total dollar amount of my purchases for the given year?

No. Please email [email protected] to request your transaction total.

I no longer live in the area and am unable to use my dividend in the store.

You can donate your dividend by clicking here, or you can request a check be sent to you by emailing [email protected]

What happens to a dividend after a member passes away?

The executor of the member’s estate or identified beneficiary may contact [email protected] to have the dividend paid out to the estate’s beneficiary.
