Celebrating 55 Years in Bellingham
Community Food Co-op is pulling out all the stops to celebrate 55 years of serving Whatcom County and beyond! On September 6 at Kulshan Trackside, we’re bringing our community together for live music, circus performances, face painting, tie-dying, birthday cupcakes, and more.
Co-op 55th Anniversary Celebration
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 • 2 to 7 p.m.
Kulshan Trackside Beer Garden • 298 W Laurel St, Bellingham
Free and open to all
This free celebration is open to anyone and everyone: members, shoppers, neighbors, and friends. Whether you’ve been with the Co-op since 1970 or just discovered us yesterday, we want to see your smiling faces and shake a leg together on the dance floor, rain or shine!
Schedule of Events
2:15 to 3 p.m.
CIRCUS SHOW
This variety show features an assortment of Bellingham’s finest circus performers demonstrating their talents, from juggling to acrobatics to slapstick comedy routines, as well as legendary Performance Poet Kevin Murphy. Kid and adult friendly.
3:15 to 4:15 p.m.
THE SHADIES
The Shadies are Bellingham’s long-standing loose organization of deep nerds for old-time music. With Andy Rick on guitar, Levi Danner on fiddle, Dream Frohe on bass, and Devin Champlin on mandolin, this group revels in playing fiddle tunes, mandolin rags, antique Hawaiian jazz, and other classic string band music.
4:45 to 5:30 p.m.
SQUARE DANCE, CALLED BY DEVIN CHAMPLIN
Devin is a musician, luthier, and artist living in Bellingham. In addition to his work with The Shadies and his solo performances, he is the songwriter and frontman for The Sons Of Rainier.
6 to 7 p.m.
ANALOG BRASS
Analog Brass is an explosive pop-funk group that puts the concept of acoustic music on its head and runs it into a new state of being. Hailing from Bellingham, this group — inspired by the brass music of New Orleans — actively pushes the limitations of what’s possible on horns and gives the audience an experience that goes beyond just sound.
