A letter from the Board

Dear Co-op Members,

It has been a busy year at the Community Food Co-op! We re-opened the upstairs seating at the Downtown store and have made major improvements in our Deli.  Our staff and managers have been working extra hard to improve all of our systems, and we are so grateful for all their good work. We’ve also been doing a lot of outreach with our Co-op Members to help our Board of Directors update our strategic plan. Through the process, with over 1,000 members responding to the member survey, and eight focus groups, the Board has been able to update our strategies while retaining the Mission, Vision, Values, and the Cooperative Principles that keep us grounded in who we are. We will have copies at the Annual Meeting available for you to review and give us feedback!

As we look ahead, we are especially excited about the opportunities for the Co-op to be a part of building a more sustainable and vibrant local food system. Our Annual Meeting focus topic will be “Regenerative Agriculture”. We will hear from local organic farmer and advocate Anne Schwartz, on why healthy soil matters to our food system and climate resiliency.

We hope you will join us on March 28th at the Bellingham Ferry Terminal from 5:00-7:30 pm for a fun evening of conversation, food, and celebration!  Check out the board candidate videos on the voting site, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
